Clean Snacking: Easy High Protein Ice Cream [4 Steps]

It’s sunny somewhere – I don’t know about you but I’ve always been a fan of ice cream, no matter what time of the year it is..and now that we’re approaching summer it’s the perfect excuse to find ways to make your own custom spin on ice cream in 4 easy steps.

So here’s a good recipe for when you want clean, high protein ice cream. This one’s different than the other ice cream post I did a while ago, with a higher amount of protein powder and whole food nutrition, that tastes great – think of it as ice cream “enhanced”.

Side note: I don’t know about you but I’ve always been a fan of ice cream, not matter what time of the year it is.

Let’s get started.

In total this recipe gives you about 85-100 grams of protein with a healthy but moderate dose of fats and carbs. If you’ve ever wanted a decent six-pack to complement other parts of your physique, then you know by now that abs are made in the kitchen, not just by hitting the gym on its own. You can eat it all at once (good luck) or break it into smaller portions.

Depending on the day, I usually like this recipe post workout, at night watching a movie with the family, or during the day when I just want a snack. It’s the perfect alternative for weekend snacking when you want to indulge but still hit your macros and keep those muscles fed.

Here’s the recipe.

Makes: As many servings as you want.

Prep Time: 5

Freeze time: 2-3 hours.

Total Time: 2-3 hours and 5 minutes.

Items Needed:

  • Blender
  • Scale (with metric measurements)
  • Measuring cups
  • A freeze friendly container

Ingredients:

  • 475 ml your milk of choice (I like to use full fat goat’s milk, or when the wife wants some, oat milk)
  • 3 bananas, sliced
  • 60 grams whey protein isolate (vanilla)
  • 30 grams Micellar Casein (vanilla)
  • 30 grams whey protein (vanilla)
  • 30 grams chopped cooking chocolate (dark)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Grab some bananas that are starting to brown – slice them up.
  2. Take the bananas along with your other ingredients and toss them into a blender (or a food processor if you have one).
  3. Blend everything up until it’s smooth or semi-smooth depending on how you like it.
  4. Pour into a container that’ll hold it all, then freeze for about 2-3 hours.
  5. Take it out, and enjoy.

Numbers don’t lie, and the breakdown above shows you how easily you can get the nutrition you need from this easy high protein ice cream recipe.

Like I said earlier you can split it into as many portions as you want – I usually get two servings out of it for an easy dose of protein, carbs, and fats after a workout or when I’m relaxing with the family.

Whole food nutrition is important for more reasons than one, but it’s also a lot easier to achieve than most media makes you believe. Become self-reliant – take control of your workouts and nutrition uptake, understand it’s not all work (half of it’s play!), embrace the suck when needed, and enjoy the spoils throughout the whole process.

Becoming a healthier, fitter / more athletic version of you doesn’t get any easier than with the SUPP UP guides…and if you read either of my nutrition guides, you’ll know exactly what I mean. If you haven’t, well…you know what to do – pick up your guides now over at the SUPP UP. shop, either as a bundle or individually, paperback or digital.
