So here’s another great recipe I just had to tell you guys about…credit goes to Pure Instinct Hunting this time around.

If you’ve bought SUPP UP. No Bull, Whole Food Military Nutrition On The Go, by now you already know how to pack quick nutrient packed food for while you’re on the go.

This recipe however, is all about making quick nutrient packed food for when you’re at home, which is just as important (as it is efficient).

It’s not just quick – but tasty as f*ck, too.

When I start swearing you know something’s delicious.

Let’s get started.

For those who’ve bought SUPP UP. No Bull, Whole Food Military Nutrition At Home, you’ve already learnt how to enjoy food while making sure its nutrient packed. If you haven’t already check it out now, either in paperback or as an e-book.

I found this recipe on Pinterest and decided to give a shot – and damn, is it good…so good I decided to make it the feature recipe for the week.

I’ve made some slight tweaks to one of the ingredients – considering SUPP UP. is all about nutrient density.

For a healthier alternative to regular ranch dressing without all the soy, MSG, and other nasty stuff, I’ve replaced the recipe with more nutrient dense options which will provide you with minerals, healthy fats, vitamins, and antioxidants .

The best part is the substitute isn’t a headache to make.

Keeping things simple is the premise here, using ingredients that allow you to tweak the flavor to your palette without concerns of the bad stuff in some pre-packaged ingredients.

So for those already in the game of spring turkey hunting, here’s my twist on this recipe. You can make strips or nuggets, your choice.

Enjoy.

Makes: Leftovers your kids will fight you for.

Prep Time: Roughly 10 minutes, if your turkey is prepped and ready to go.

Cook Time: Varies and dependent on if you have a deep fryer or are using a frying pan.

Total Time: Varies – the goal here is to get things nice and crispy while keeping the meat moist.

Items Needed: A frying pan or deep fryer. Fire. A large gallon Ziploc bag. A plate or a bowl to coat your turkey strips. Paper towels.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Full Breast of Wild Turkey Meat, cut into strips or nuggets
  • 1 Cup of Bread Crumbs
  • 114 grams (4 ounces) of Ranch Dressing (the original recipe required the 4 pack dry dressing)
    • NOTE: The recipe for the homemade dressing is below/right after this recipe.
  • Frying oil
    • As mentioned in the book, coconut oil has a resilient smoke point and is still nutrient dense with a good balance of healthy fats, and prevents inflammation caused by most vegetable oils used today. However this time around I recommend peanut oil because, despite its ratio balance in fats, it’s quick to heat, practical to use a lot of, and considering you won’t be shoving turkey strips/nuggets down your trough every night, safe to use in moderation.

Directions:

  1. Take your large Ziploc bag and put your ranch dressing and breadcrumbs in there, mixing them together well.
  2. Take your turkey strips or nuggets, and toss them in the bag, making sure they’re coated evenly.
  3. If you have a deep fryer, use the recommended setting and get your oil nice and hot.
    1. If you have a frying pan, fill it about 1/2 inch deep and get your oil nice and hot.
      1. Test your oil by dropping a bit of the mixture in the pan/fryer. If it sizzles back up, you’re good to go.
  4. Fry until each piece is done.
    1. If you’re using a frying pan, fry each piece for around 1 minute on each side until golden brown.
  5. Take out your turkey strips and get them on your paper towel to drain and cool off.

Done. Serve with whatever you want – maybe some sweet potato fries and a salad?

Ranch Dressing Recipe

This only takes 5 minutes to prep, 5 minutes to make in a blender, and will last for a week in your fridge. Easy.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cup of Greek Yogurt
  • 6 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Parmesan
  • 1 Tsp Dried Dill Weed
  • 1 Clove of Garlic (Small)
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • Salt (to taste)

Directions:

  1. Throw everything except your olive oil in your blender.
  2. Blend until smooth.
  3. Slowly add your olive oil to the blended ingredients as blender is running (this emulsifies it like xanthan gum would in pre-packaged ranch dressing, making things nice and thick).

Use it for the turkey strip breading mix and if you have any left over, use it as a dressing.
